On Sunday 20th August 2017, I had the very great honour of being the makeup artist at Hannah and Craig Gregory's beautiful wedding at Missenden Abbey. Hannah had her trial makeup session with me earlier on in the year, so I knew exactly what she wanted for her special day. I'm sure you'll agree, she looked absolutely stunning.
I pride myself on being so much more than a makeup artist to my brides, and yesterday's wedding was no exception. I had the great privilege of helping Hannah into her gorgeous wedding dress and was there to act as a generally calming influence as the morning progressed. My assistant, Rosie, was invaluable, running around the venue finding photographers and other people, fetching drinks, cleaning brushes and more.
When it comes to choosing your makeup artist for your big day, be sure to ask them how long they will stay with you. I never leave until my bride is just about to set foot out of the door but I know many artists will simply apply the makeup and then leave.
I offer all my brides the full package and am there to support them for the entirety of the time they are getting ready. I even offer a package where I will stay all day, redoing hair and makeup for the evening, helping the bride to use the loo (it's a thing you know. Have you ever tried going for a wee in a wedding dress?!), and touching up makeup on the bridal party too.
Being a makeup artist isn't a job for me. It's a passion, a life choice, and I get so much pleasure from seeing beautiful women being made to feel even more beautiful and special for their big days.
For now, I'd like to wish Hannah and Craig every happiness in their married lives together. Huge congratulations to you both!
